High Fructose Corn Syrup Prompts Weight Gain
Princeton University researchers have demonstrated that rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when they consumed the same number of calories!
In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides. The researchers say the work sheds light on the factors contributing to obesity trends in the United States.
Another reason to add to the list of why high fructose corn syrup is bad for you!

That is a shame to hear all the reasons high fructose corn syrup is bad for you, because it is a major component in everything prepackaged at our grocer’s. Guess that is why its good to cook from scratch.
It’s a major component because it’s cheap and it’s cheap in part because of heavy corn subsidies. Now that it’s being known that it’s not that great for you, hopefully people will start cutting back, including subsidies.
