Fitness & Food Posts of the Week
JD wrote a great post this week about the best part of exercise: indulging! On a day in which he ran for 12 miles (wow!) and then biked for 29 miles (double wow!), he also chowed down on a Hershey bar with almonds, a bottle of Propel fitness (both while on the ride) followed by a hundred Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings. (okay, he only wanted a hundred of those wings) You can indulge in your food fantasies if you run for 12 miles and then bike for 29.
Israel interviews former fat guy Rob Cooper about the mental mindset of fitness. Israel has interviewed Rob twice in the past (once on fitness, once on nutrition) but this focused on the mental and not the physical. “How you think, and more importantly, what you think is possible is more important than the training or nutrition side of the equation.” Good interview.
Lazy Man warns against playing the Blame Game when it comes to your body. Blame solves nothing and accomplishes nothing, do something productive … like run (or walk).
NCN is back on track!
Here’s a great retrospective comparing food portions today versus twenty years ago. Two slices of pizza twenty years ago amounted to 500 calories, today they’re more like 850. “… if eaten a two times a month, would put on two extra pounds a year, or forty pounds in the next two decades.” Yikes.
And lastly I leave you with this healthy tidbit … here are ten reasons you should have more sex.
